This Is My Blog

So, here's the latest and greatest that's been going on with me.  Since I refuse to join Facebook I thought this would be a nice way to keep my friends informed of what's going on with me.   (see this post for more details:

For anyone who doesn't know, I've been in training to run a marathon!!  A half-marathon, to be exact.  Unfortunately I am currently sidelined with shin splints (which are quite painful, however they are getting better) so I haven't been able to run in a week, but I hope to get some running in this weekend if my body is OK with that!!

A half-marathon is 13.1 miles.  My goal is to run the whole marathon in 2 hours and 50 minutes, which is about a 13 minute/mile pace.  Oh and have I mentioned, I am planning to run the Disney Princess Half-Marathon in February??  (of course it has to be Disney!!)

Training is hard!!  Anyone who knows me knows that I don't like running.  However, I'm starting to like it.  I can't wait for the time when I go for a long run and I don't feel like I'm going to die!!  Major props to my super awesome trainer, code name Sunshine, for all her help and motivation!!

So, has anyone run any marathons??  Anyone been stricken with shin splints??  Sound off in the comments!!

  1. Jacob had shin splints something fierce a few months ago. It took damn near a whole month to go away.. maybe it was more? When I used to run, I'd got up to about 5 or 6 miles and didn't see the point in going any further. I've got a life to live.. don't have hours and hours to devote to training with kids and all. Still.. the runners high kicks in LOOONG before 13.1, and that's all that matters! Congraggerations on setting this goal! I hope it all comes out to your liking!
